Submitting Videos to Blackboard (steps for Students)

Students have access to all of the Kaltura media creation and hosting tools and can therefore upload media, capture webcam videos, create screen recordings, and so on. Faculty can create projects and assignments that give students the opportunity to create and submit media. Faculty can solicit this media submission to Blackboard as part the Assignment feature, a Discussion post, or even a test item. Each of these submission options includes a rich text editor with a feature for submitting media from the student's My Media library, though the process differs slightly between Blackboard Original and Ultra styled courses. See instructions below.

Blackboard Original

1. After you have created your media, navigate to the assignment/discussion/test link in which you want to submit media from your My Media library.
2. Click the assignment link, then click Write Submission.
3. Add any other content you would like to the text submission area, then click the Add Content + button in the bottom row of the text editing tool panel and choose Kaltura Media. If you do not see the Add Content + button, you may need to click the ellipsis [...] to display the full tool list. (If nothing happens, check that you are not blocking pop-ups.)
4. This will display your My Media content, click the blue Embed button for the media you want to embed in the text window.
5. This will create a playable thumbnail embed of the media in the item. Finish editing the text submission and click Submit.

Blackboard Ultra

1. After you have created your media, click to open the assignment/discussion/test link to which you want to submit media from your My Media library.
2. For assignments, click View Assessment.
3. Click the Add Content button.
4. In the Document editing window, click the + button at the far right of the rich text editor toolbar (Insert Content).
5. Choose Insert/Edit LTI Item.
6. Choose Kaltura Embed.
7. This will display your My Media content, click the blue Embed button for the media you want to embed in the text window. Edit the title if desired in the title panel that appears.
8. This will create a playable thumbnail embed of the media in the document. Finish editing the Document and click Save.
