Creating and Publishing Slide-Based Video Presentations

There are two primary approaches for creating slide-based video presentations that are hosted and published using Kaltura. One approach is to use PowerPoint to narrate and create a video file, the other approach is to use Kaltura Capture. The general steps are summarized below, and demonstrated in detail in the videos that follow.  The steps for publishing are slightly different depending on whether you are an instructor posting video content in Blackboard, a student posting video content to an assignment, or simply sharing a link to the video in MediaSpace.

Creating a Slide-Based Video Presentation using Powerpoint and Kaltura

  1. Create a slideshow in PowerPoint
  2. Add narration so some or all of the files using the Record Sound or Record Slide Show feature
  3. Publish the slideshow to MP4 (supported in all PC versions of Powerpoint, only in PowerPoint 365 or 2019 for MacOS).
  4. Upload the MP4 to Kaltura
  5. Share and/or publish the video to Blackboard or MediaSpace
