Express Capture

Use Kaltura Express Capture to record your webcam and microphone activity. This is useful for many purposes, including quick lectures, informal messages, sharing anecdotes or updates, and for introducing content.

To record an Express Capture video:

  1. Login to Kaltura via Blackboard or MediaSpace.
  2. To record a new webcam video, click the Add New button and choose Express Capture. You may be prompted by your browser to allow access to your camera and microphone.
  3. Click the red record button. Your video will begin recording. When you are finished recording, click the stop button.
  4. Preview your video and then click Record Again or Use This to save the recording to your My Media Library.
  5. Complete the details form for the video including the title and description.
  6. Consider adding descriptive tags (words or phrases) to aid searching and categorization.
  7. Use the Add Collaborator button to share co-editing or co-publishing rights with other faculty, staff or students. Co-editors can view and modify videos, co-publishers can share and publish videos in courses using Kaltura tools in Blackboard or on the web using Mediaspace.
  8. If using Blackboard, do not modify the Publishing Status. If using MediaSpace, media marked Private will be visible to the content owner and collaborators only, Unlisted media will be visible to anyone with the link, Published media will be visible to anyone with access to the published destinations (such as channels and playlists displayed on MediaSpace).
  9. Click Save.
  10. Click Go to Media to view the video or Go to My Media to view your video library.
