Derived from research-based best practices, these principles are intended to supplement the QM Higher Education 6th edition course design rubric and the NIU Online Course Design Essentials to guide effective facilitation of online and hybrid courses at Northern Illinois University.
This program recognizes faculty and course designers whose courses demonstrate best practices in four major areas: course design, interaction and collaboration, assessment, and learner support. Submitted courses are evaluated by a peer group of faculty and staff using the Exemplary Course Program Rubric.
