Job Description
The ResTech Helpdesk is a team of undergraduate students who provide:
IT helpdesk desktop support
IT customer support for software and hardware related issues
PC issue troubleshooting
Support for online services including Ethernet and wireless
Support for the ResTech computer labs
Spyware and virus removal
Requirements
Working knowledge of the following:
In-depth knowledge of operating systems: Windows Operating Systems, macOS
Internet: email, web browsers (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, etc.)
Computer assembly and troubleshooting
Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, O365
Virus, malware and spyware detection and removal
Comfortable with desktop and laptop hardware troubleshooting and installation of hard drives, NICs, memory, printers and other PC accessories
Basic knowledge with networking: TCP/IP, configuring network settings, IP addresses, routers, etc.
Other Requirements
Available to work a minimum of 10 hours per week
Enrolled minimum six credit hours as an NIU student
Must be able to lift and carry 25-50 pounds of equipment
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent communication skills
Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Ability to learn fast and pick up new skills quickly
