Quality assessment is more than assigning a grade to your students. Truly effective assessments determine how much knowledge the student has and how well he or she can utilize that knowledge. Also, in addition to providing an evaluation of student progress, assessment can be used throughout the semester to guide instructional decisions. During this online session offered 01/30/2014, we discuss multiple ways that assessment can be used within a course, a variety of assessment options, and some guidelines for designing effective assessments.
