Online – Preparing to Teach Online is facilitated through a course in Blackboard.
Modality
Primarily asynchronous and flexible.

Overview
During this three-week self-paced course, you will learn practical strategies and best practices in delivering an online course. The course features helpful topics that will prepare you to create a welcoming learning environment in which you can communicate and interact with your students; and help you establish efficient grading and workflow practices.
Each module will have a recorded presentation and resources. Participants will also have access to optional synchronous and asynchronous activities, technical resources and tips for being successful in an online learning environment.
This course is ideal for anyone who is teaching a course that was designed and developed by someone else, or for anyone who has designed and developed their own course and is looking for tips and practices for the delivery of that course.

- Managing the Online Teaching Workload / Time Management

Certificate of Completion
You will receive a certificate of completion if you complete all seven modules. While completion of the Preparing to Teach Online is encouraged, it is not required by the university.
Registration Information
This program is open to all faculty, teaching staff and graduate teaching assistants at NIU. The program is designed for instructors of record that are teaching an online course that was already developed or previously taught by someone else.
