Spring 2024 Classroom Technology Training and Support

Fall 2024 Classroom Updates

Over the summer break, the team focused on overhauling Faraday Hall 143 and 144 (FR 143/144) as well as LaTourette Hall 200 and 201 (FW 200/201). These are frequently-used auditoriums that needed some updates. 

All of the rooms now include touchscreen controls, a document camera, high-definition PTZ room cameras (for recording or streaming to remote students), microphones for both facutly and students that can simultaneously be used for amplification and streaming audio, and an upgraded projector. The rooms were also refreshed including removing faded/discolored charts, painting, and (in FW 200/201) replacing torn upholstery.

Faraday Hall 143 and 144 also include interactive flat panel monitors in place of some of the whiteboards. These panels can be used as writing surfaces that can be projected; this is more visible to students in an auditorium than writing on a whiteboard. The content can also be saved to share with students after class. 

Room 1029 in the NIU Wellness and Literacy Center on Sycamore Road was also renovated and updated to provide a better teaching experience. More details will be available prior to the start of the semester.
