August 13-14, 2020 from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Video is a powerful tool for teaching and learning, regardless of whether you are teaching face-to-face, online, or hybrid courses. In this two-day institute, you will learn to create simple videos for your courses and then delve into more advanced techniques to create engaging and powerful videos. On Thursday, the institute features a keynote by Michael Wesch, distinguished teaching scholar at Kansas State University, and is based on his approach to making super simple videos and engaging students while off-camera. Friday features a keynote by Laura Vazquez, NIU Board of Trustees Professor in the Department of Communication, on the power of storytelling. Learn more »

Modality: The Teaching Effectiveness Institute is going virtual, with live online sessions spaced out over two days. These sessions will be short, engaging, and provide opportunities for hands-on practice from your home or office.
