Our self-contained hydroponic farm allows fresh greens to flourish all year long.

Edible Campus

Illinois is full of farms. Yet most of the food consumed in the state isn't locally grown. By installing gardens throughout the NIU campus, we strive to improve our community's access to sustainably-grown hyper-local produce.

Edible Campus aspires to transform NIU's campus with edible gardens that:
  • Provide fresh, healthy produce to enhance food access and health
  • Engage students in hands-on opportunities for experiential learning and research
  • Promote regenerative growing practices to build a more localized, sustainable food system
