As one of the largest state universities in Illinois, NIU has committed to a healthy, sustainable future for our students and community. We strive to integrate sustainability into educational opportunities, research, and campus operations, as well as to serve as a model to the broader northern Illinois community.
We approach campus sustainability in an inclusive way, as finding solutions to complex challenges like climate change requires strategies that are environmentally sound, socially just and economically viable.
