Overview
OLC Innovate, a joint conference presented by the Online Learning Consortium and MERLOT, provides a path for innovators of all experience levels and backgrounds to share best practices, test new ideas, and collaborate on driving forward online, digital, and blended learning.
Conference Theme: Education Reimagined
What a wild ride these past two years have been! Our skills as educators, leaders, innovators, tinkerers, and bricoleurs were put to the ultimate test. We pivoted, iterated, and reimagined. Now, it is time to (re)connect and move forward. We are facing a new reality, one where offline and online integrate and complement each other seamlessly.
This year’s program promises to deliver conversations, interactions, and collaborations around innovations in research, practice, and technologies.

Virtual Keynote Address
Imaginative, Strategic, and Sustainable: A Call for an Online Learning Future Designed for Students' Lived Experiences

The impact of widespread remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed a lasting need for educators to assess the use of online learning technologies in their teaching and design practice critically. Conversations about critical and strategic technology usage in online learning will require: 1. breaking down the long-existing false binary between “online” and “in-person” learning experiences, 2. designing activities that are increasingly attentive to students’ embodied experiences of being online, and 3. empowering students to engage in reflective feedback about their experiences continuously. In the process, we’ll consider instructional approaches to build courses that are clear, navigable, resilient, and accessible.
