Slate CRM Appropriate Use Agreement

I acknowledge that access to Slate is provided only for legitimate educational interest and other legitimate institutional business, consistent with my assigned job responsibilities. I will use Slate in accordance with institutional policies, and applicable privacy and data-protection requirements.

I understand that I may access, view, export or update only the records and information necessary to perform my work. I will not:

• Access records out of curiosity or for personal reasons.
• Share my Slate credentials or allow another person to use my account.
• Download, export or disclose data except as authorized for institutional purposes.
• Send mass communications, defined as the same message sent to a defined audience regardless of recipient count, to prospective, admitted or enrolled students except in compliance with the NIU Mass Electronic Communications Policy.
• Attempt to reach a similar effect by sending the same message individually to multiple recipients or by exporting contact data to send messages outside Slate.
• Alter, delete or misuse data outside of my approved role and responsibilities.

These expectations may be updated as NIU formalizes broader Slate governance practices.

I understand that Slate activity may be monitored and audited. Failure to comply with these expectations may result in suspension or loss of Slate access and referral to my supervisor, dean or Human Resource Services for further action.
