Group Fitness

Join a group fitness class to have fun while you exercise. Our instructors will guide you through safe, effective workouts in a welcoming environment. We offer many classes with a variety of benefits.  

Cardio classes:

  • Dance HIITs: Repeat simple dance moves with low- and high-intensity options.
  • Danceworks: Enjoy upbeat music and fun dance-fitness combos.
  • Indoor Cycling: Pedal through hills, sprints and more on a stationary bike.
  • Virtual Dance Fitness: Get a great workout that combines dance rhythms with fitness variations.

Strength classes:

  • Barre: Strengthen muscles and improve posture with a high-intensity, low-impact workout.
  • Boot Camp: Combine cardio with external/bodyweight resistance to strengthen the lower body.
  • Glutes, Core and More: Tone your glutes and core with effective and fun exercises.
  • Step It Up!: Learn easy stepping moves to increase lower body strength and endurance.

Registration

Follow these steps to register. If you register for a virtual class, you'll receive the Zoom link in your confirmation email.

Students/Current Members

  1. Visit MyRec and select a class.
  2. Select the Register box for the class that fits your schedule.
  3. Log in with your NIU credentials or account information.
  4. Follow the prompts to complete your registration.

Non-members

  1. Visit MyRec and select a class.
  2. Select the Register box for the class that fits your schedule.
  3. Log in. If you're an NIU employee, you'll log in with your NIU credentials. If you're a member of the community, you'll need to create an account first.
  4. Follow the prompts and pay for in-person classes to complete your registration.
