We provide services to international students like you, primarily in F-1 and J-1 statuses, as you navigate your time studying at NIU and living in the United States. Because we understand that maintaining a visa can be overwhelming and confusing, we encourage you to contact us with questions.

We can advise you on your visa status and maintenance, on and off-campus employment, obtaining a Social Security Number, applying for a driver's license, changing visa status and many other topics.

We host a specialized orientation each semester for newly arrived international students and provide cultural programming to assist you in connecting with your peers and understanding U.S. life and culture.
