Students With Transfer Credit
Students coming from another university will have their credentials evaluated by an International Admissions staff member or by the academic department. Please submit course syllabi and course descriptions for the courses that you wish to have evaluated. Depending on the course level, either the International Admissions staff will provide the evaluation or you will need to work with the academic department directly. We will do our best to appropriately transfer needed classes but cannot guarantee you will transfer into NIU at the same level you left your previous university.
- Be in good standing at the last attended university
- Have a GPA of at least 2.00 on a 4.00 scale (C average) from all colleges/universities attended (as computed by NIU standards)
Students With Degrees Equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor’s Degree
If you are found to have a degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree, you will enter NIU with all the core requirements considered complete. For any courses that you wish to have evaluated for direct course credit, you will need to submit course syllabi and course descripts to your academic department.
Specific major programs may have additional course requirements and academic standards.
