Be Part of Our Legacy
You've had this dream of going to law school, and then entering the field empowered to change a corner of the world you're passionate about. At NIU College of Law, our talented faculty and staff are ready to help you make that dream your reality.
NIU College of Law students have the best of both worlds. They can live and learn at a place that has the advantages of a big, top-tier university and, at the same time, feel at home with people who support and nurture them. Here at NIU College of Law our charter is simple: We provide our students with a high-quality and affordable legal education.
Our rich history of excellence in legal education, cutting-edge research and public service is recognized beyond our campus community. Located at the western edge of the Chicago metropolitan area, we are at the heart of a diverse and active university campus of more than 18,000 students in DeKalb, Illinois. Our location means we are valuably connected to an enviable community of employers and alumni throughout the Chicago area and beyond.
Applications are currently being accepted for next fall's entering class. In reviewing applications for admission to the College of Law, the Admissions Committee conducts a careful and holistic review of applicant files and makes determinations regarding the ability of applicants to succeed in the study of law and as members of the legal profession, as well as potential to thrive as part of the cooperative professional community that the College of Law seeks to maintain.
NIU College of Law is strongly committed to facilitating access to the legal profession for members of traditionally underrepresented groups. We therefore recruit faculty and students who represent diverse communities and identities in our society based on gender, age, sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity, race, culture, ethnicity and physical ability.
