Learn about the requirements for international students currently attending a secondary school outside of the U.S.
You must have graduated by the time you start at NIU in order to be admitted.
You must have passing grades equivalent to a U.S. C+ average on all transcripts and/or exam scores.

Email IntlAdmissions@niu.edu with questions, including if you applied prior to January 12, 2026 and have or are providing international records directly to NIU.
Students enrolling at NIU must first prove they can communicate in English at a university level.
