Yellowdig is a conversation platform that connects learners and empowers educators. NIU is piloting Yellowdig during the 2020-2021 academic year and it is available for any NIU users. Yellowdig is integrated in Blackboard and can be used seamlessly with any Blackboard course or organization.

The primary focus of Yellowdig is the creation of active and student-centered communities within a course or program and, when implemented, most often replaces the more traditional threaded discussions. Using Yellowdig does require some preparation and a willingness to think differently about the purposes, outcomes, and impact of online discussion.

Before adopting Yellowdig in your course, view the following resources to learn more about how Yellowdig and how its approach differs from other discussion tools.

Getting Started with Yellowdig

The first step to getting started with Yellowdig is to complete the self-paced Yellowdig Instructor Certification Course. After doing so, if you then have more questions as you get started with Yellowdig, contact the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning.
