Purpose:
This record series consists of the auto accident reports on NIU vehicles maintained by the Office of Insurance. The records include: the initial accident report; pending notice of claim (processing); copy of the claim settlement; copies of estimates; and copies of police reports. Insurance claims are processed by the Risk Management Division of the Department of Central Management Services.
Procedure:
Retain in office for ten (10) years after the final settlement and closure of the corresponding claim, then dispose of provided all audits have been completed under the supervision of the Auditor General, if necessary, and no litigation is pending or anticipated.
