Purpose:

The National Safety Education Center housed at Northern Illinois University's College of Engineering and Engineering Technology (CEET) is one of twenty-seven (27) OSHA Training Institute Education Centers (OTIEC) in the country. The OTIECs are a national network of nonprofit organizations authorized by OSHA to deliver occupational safety and health training to private and public sector workers, supervisors, and employers. The OTIECs offer courses and seminars on a variety of safety and health topics. 

The administrative training files include but are not limited to, copies of: participant's registration forms, prerequisite forms for required courses, daily sign-in sheets, course Certificates of Completion, issued OSHA Outreach Trainer Cards, trainer's Statements of Compliance, monthly reports of classes (submitted to the OSHA Directorate of Training and Education), and other supporting documentation (e.g.: email correspondence regarding changes in schedules and/or course inquiries). Files may also include payment vouchers (e.g.: participant, venue, and/or program supplies).

Note: The OSHA Directorate of Training and Education mandates training records are maintained for (5) years 

Procedure:

Retain in office for five (5) fiscal years after completion of course, then destroy in a secure manner or delete from system provided all audits (Federal and State have been completed, if necessary, and no litigation is pending or anticipated.
