Purpose:

This record series consists of future academic plans for Northern Illinois University. Included in this are mission statements for each college within the University, academic program reviews, program review follow-up reports, schedule of new degrees, planning document for new academic courses, program improvement and expansion request, number of majors for the department, and credit hours by department.

Procedure:

Retain in office for five (5) years, then transfer to the University Archives for permanent retention.

Accreditation Material File

Purpose:

This record series consists of material used for accreditation of programs. Included in this are initial reports, accreditation guidelines, correspondence, documentation of funding (both internal and external), etc.

Procedure:

Retain in office until expiration of all active administrative reference, then transfer to the University Archives for permanent retention.

New Degree Program Requests

Purpose:

This record series consists of the new degree program requests maintained by the Office of the Assistant Provost. The records contain all documents generated from requests for new degree programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral level including: the initial written request; supporting documentation (i.e., survey studies, research reports, faculty vitae); and all related correspondence/ memoranda.

Procedure:

Retain in office for ten (10) years, then transfer to the University Archives for permanent retention.
