    Visit Huskies Get Hired (HGH)

    Visit the Huskies Get Hired website. If your HGH account has not been set up, email careerservices@niu.edu. Include your name, Z-ID and student email address.

    Log in to HGH

    Use your Z-ID as your login ID and your MyNIU password.

    Search for Jobs by Major

    1. Click Jobs at the top of your home page.
    2. Expand More Filters below the Keywords & Location boxes.
    3. Expand the list of Majors/Concentrations, and then expand the college where the major is located. Check the box for the major and any emphases.
    4. Collapse the list of Majors/Concentrations, and click Yes under Include only selected major.
    5. Scroll to the bottom of the More Filters box and click on Apply.

    Search On-campus Jobs

    1. Click Jobs at the top of your home page.
    2. Expand the Position Type drop-down menu. Check the On Campus Student Employment box and click Apply.

    Create and Modify Job Alerts

    1. After running a search, click on + Create Job Alert
    2. To delete job alerts or change options, click on Job Alerts (1).

    Upload Resumes, Cover Letters and Other Application Materials

    1. Click the Add a Resume box on the right hand side of your home page.
    2. Click on the Add New button to add documents.
    3. Label your document, click on the correct option under Document Type, and click on Choose File. Locate the document in your files, click on it, and click on Open. The file name will appear next to the Choose File box. Click on Submit.
    4. Note: Your first resume is your default resume. It will be visible to employers in our resume book unless you choose to make it private in My Account.

    Search for Employers

    1. Click Employers at the top of your home page.
    2. Enter keywords and click on Search to find employers that use those keywords on their HGH accounts.
    3. Click on an employer to read a company description, review open jobs and learn job fair information.
    4. To follow an employer, click on the black Follow box on the employer's account page. When you follow an employer, new jobs and announcements from that employer will appear on the What's New section of your HGH home page

    Information on Career Fairs

    1. Click Events at the top of your home page. Click on the event you are interested in. Scroll down to read information about the fairs and to see the list of employers attending.
    2. Special Feature: If you are particularly interested in talking with a specific employer at the fair, click the star next to the employer's name. The employers you select will be notified that you will be attending the fair to talk with them.
    3. Note: The list of employers attending the fairs is updated periodically until the week prior to the event. Keep checking back to discover new employers!

No appointment necessary for 15-minute drop-in services. First come, first served. Bring a printed copy of your resume or cover letter for your review.
