Advanced Placement (AP) exams measure the knowledge and skills you gained in high school AP courses. We offer NIU course credit for high scores on AP exams.
To get college credit for AP exams, you must request your official score report to be sent directly to NIU. This should be done as early as possible.

If you have credit in ENGL 204 or are enrolled in 204, you cannot receive credit in ENGL 103 or 203. However, if you have an AP English exam score of 3 and are eligible to take ENGL 204 based on the English Core Competency Exam, you can substitute three hours of English elective credit for credit in ENGL 103. If you want to make this substitution, you must submit a written request to Testing Services at testing@niu.edu.
