Discover Your Place on Campus

With so many events, clubs and activities, your to-do list can be as long as you want it to be.

As a Huskie, you have countless opportunities to learn, grow and go all in. Our organizations, programs and events help you connect with others, discover a cause you’re passionate about, find a creative outlet, volunteer, stay fit, have fun and so much more.

Passionate About Something? Join the Club

We have hundreds of student clubs and organizations that fall into all sorts of categories: academics, community service, culture, student government, military, sports, environmental, video games, religion. You get the idea. Discover all our student organizations on Huskie Hub.

At the beginning of each semester, we host a student involvement fair so you can explore all the ways you can become involved on campus. Or you can check out Huskie Hub anytime to find a club that’s your right fit.

If Going Greek Is What You Seek

Enhance your college experience by joining Fraternity and Sorority Life. Our many chapters are composed of hundreds of Huskies who have fun while providing service and leadership to our community. And the impact lasts long after graduation, with the support of a strong alumni network as you find your place in the world, as well as the leadership skills to help change it for the better.

We have dozens of chapters within the Interfraternity Council (IFC), Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) and the Panhellenic Council (PHC).

Full of Questions and Curiosity?

You can participate in research opportunities, even as a first-year Huskie, through programs like Huskies Engage and Research Rookies. No matter your major or background, there’s a unique scholarly or artistic experience for you. Build relationships, increase your problem-solving and communication skills, and become a more knowledgeable citizen and leader.

Participating in research is an exciting way to build your professional skills and network while exploring your interests and goals. The possibilities are endless: you could analyze data, perform experiments in a lab, create a work of art or help produce a film.

Huskie Spotlight

“One thing I hadn't expected when I came to NIU is just how many different ways there are to get involved on campus. There are literally hundreds of student organizations here, so whether you're interested in game development, robotics, philosophy, art or anything else, odds are it exists here. And if it doesn't, that's a great opportunity to find others interested in that thing and start it. That doesn't just benefit you, it benefits the whole campus community!”
Jerry Stamos,
mechatronics engineering major
