NIU is committed to educating the campus community about sexual misconduct awareness and prevention. Students and employees must complete required training. They can also benefit from optional education and training.
Further outreach is performed by several committees and task forces. These groups' duties include working to reduce sexual assault on campus, advocating for survivors and helping improve victim services.
In addition, NIU received a grant from the Office on Violence Against Women dedicated to preventing violence on campus. The grant helps the university operate education programs, improve the coordination of services, and focus on the needs of underserved populations.
The university also works with community partners to provide comprehensive resources to students and employees.
