Memberships are available for dependents (up to age 16) of current NIU students, faculty/staff, alumni, retirees and community members who are Recreation members. They must present their NIU RecCards to access the recreation facilities and be accompanied by an adult member at all times.

If you currently have a membership and would like to purchase dependent memberships for your dependents, please email recreation@niu.edu and we will assist you with setting up your additional memberships.
Membership Policies for Minors
A parent or legal guardian must be a current member in order for a minor membership to be purchased. A parent or guardian must be present at all times while children are in the facility. Additionally, family hours and some usage restrictions apply to all children under the age of 16. Please see Recreation Center policies under age restrictions.
NIU RecCard
All dependent members will need an NIU RecCard to access any of the Rec facilities. If they don't currently have an NIU RecCard, once the membership is purchased, bring your receipt to the NIU OneCard office within three business days to purchase a new card. A new card costs $5 and can be purchased with cash only. Bring a valid photo ID. This card is reusable for any renewed memberships.
