Research Rookies provides undergraduate students, regardless of major, an opportunity to explore their research interests while gaining knowledge and practical research skills needed to effectively conduct professional research. As a Research Rookie, you will become part of a learning community where you engage in research exploration activities that will enhance your experience as you work on a faculty-mentored research project. Research Rookies culminates with sharing your project at NIU’s annual Conference on Undergraduate Research (CURE). Upon successful completion of the program, you will receive a $500 stipend.
Complete a brief online application telling us about topics you are interested in exploring, how participation in undergraduate research will help you achieve your academic and career goals, and how the skills and experiences you have will be beneficial in participating in research.
The priority application deadline is June 28, 2024 for the 2024-2025 academic year.
