Research Rookies (RR) provides undergraduate students with a chance to explore their research interests while gaining the skills and knowledge needed to effectively conduct professional research. RR spend the fall semester participating in research exploration activities, then transition to undergraduate research assistants in the spring semester, assisting a faculty member on a research project. RR receive a $500 stipend upon completion of the program.
Participate in monthly cohort meetings online and all assigned asynchronous activities.
Committed to 5-10 hours/week of participation in a faculty-mentored research project during the spring semester.
Commit to participate in the program for both the fall and spring semesters.
Must not be graduating in December.
Create and present an academic poster on your research findings.
Have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
Earn a passing grade in a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester of the program.
Schedule and Training Topics
All workshops and cohort meetings will be held online through Blackboard. Students will meet synchronously on the first Tuesday (novice researchers) or Thursday (intermediate researchers) of each month from 4-5:30 p.m. RR will participate in additional asynchronous activities such as LinkedIn Learning trainings related to research methods, virtual lab tours and reflection activities.
