Research Rookies

Research Rookies provides undergraduate students, regardless of major, an opportunity to explore their research interests while gaining knowledge and practical research skills needed to effectively conduct professional research. As a Research Rookie, you will become part of a learning community where you engage in research exploration activities that will enhance your experience as you work on a faculty-mentored research project. Research Rookies culminates with sharing your project at NIU’s annual Conference on Undergraduate Research (CURE).  Upon successful completion of the program, you will receive a $500 stipend.

Program Eligibility

• First time college researcher
• Commit to a full academic year in the program (fall and spring semester)
• GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Maintain a passing grade in a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester of the program
