Research Rookies (RR) provides undergraduate students with a chance to explore their research interests while gaining the skills and knowledge needed to effectively conduct professional research. RR spend the fall semester participating in research exploration activities, then transition to undergraduate research assistants in the spring semester, assisting a faculty member on a research project. RR will receive a $500 stipend upon completion of the program.
Participate in monthly cohort meetings and all assigned asynchronous activities.
Commit to participating in the program for both the fall and spring semesters. *Must not be graduating in December.
Commit to 5-10 hours/week of participation in a faculty-mentored research project.
Create and present an academic poster on your research findings at the Conference on Undergraduate Research & Engagement (CURE).
Have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
Earn a passing grade in a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester of the program.
Schedule and Training Topics
Students will meet in person on the first Tuesday of each month from 3-4:30 p.m. RR will participate in additional asynchronous activities such as LinkedIn Learning training related to research methods, virtual lab tours and reflection activities.
