Research Rookies provides undergraduate students, regardless of major, an opportunity to explore their research interests while gaining knowledge and practical research skills needed to effectively conduct professional research. As a Research Rookie, you will become part of a learning community where you engage in research exploration activities that will enhance your experience as you work on a faculty-mentored research project. Research Rookies culminates with sharing your project at NIU’s annual Conference on Undergraduate Research (CURE). Upon successful completion of the program, you will receive a $500 stipend.

Program Eligibility
First time college researcher
Commit to a full academic year in the program (fall and spring semester)
GPA of 3.0 or higher
Maintain a passing grade in a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester of the program
