Rising Scholars

Join Rising Scholars, a recruitment program that provides mentoring opportunities and helps you develop into a competitive fellowship applicant.

How It Works

  August: Find Your Invitation

  Second-year students with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher will receive an email invitation to become Rising Scholars in the spring of their first year.

  September: Attend the Rising Scholars Conference

  Attend the Rising Scholars Conference in the fall of your sophomore year. You'll learn from guest speakers and leave the conference with an understanding of how to use NIU’s national fellowship advising services.

  Stay Connected

  You'll be included in a Microsoft Teams group where further opportunities and information will be shared regularly. We'll connect you to workshops on developing resumes, writing personal statements and soliciting letters of recommendation.
