NIU Well-being is a campus-wide initiative focused on supporting and enhancing the well-being of our entire community. Together we can help one another to succeed, thrive and be well. Here, you will find many tools, resources, programs and information to help support your wellness at NIU.

Couple and Family Therapy Clinic at NIU

The Couple and Family Clinic at NIU works with individuals, couples and families who are affiliated with NIU or live in the surrounding communities. Fees are determined on a sliding scale, and no one is turned away due to inability to pay. The clinic provides high-quality, affordable mental health services and is committed to empowering individuals to nurture strong relationships.

NIU Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic

The NIU Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment in speech-language pathology and audiology. The clinic accepts a wide range of insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid.

Psychological Services Center NIU

The Psychological Services Center provides a full range of outpatient psychological services to the NIU community and DeKalb area residents. Services include psychological testing, diagnostic interviews and individual, couple, family and group therapy; parent education and play-based therapy for children; and methods for controlling stress and physical pain. The center is committed to diversity and welcomes people of all backgrounds. It accepts most insurance plans and has a sliding payment scale.

NIU Physical Therapy Clinic

The NIU Physical Therapy Clinic offers specialized evaluation and treatment from NIU's Doctor of Physical Therapy program faculty, who all hold current state licensure and doctoral degrees, along with doctoral students. Their main role is to optimize human movement and quality of life across the life span and promote active participation in home, school, work and community environments. Our physical therapists examine and treat a wide variety of acute and chronic musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. The clinic accepts most insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicare.

Recreation Center

The NIU Recreation Center is open to community members as well as NIU students and staff, with year-long, month-long and day passes available. Passes give you access to sports courts, jogging track, fitness and weight training equipment, lap swim and group fitness classes. Nutrition coaching, personal training and other individual services are also available.
