Ways to Play

There are so many ways to have fun at NIU! Be sure to follow NIU on Facebook and Twitter for more ways to connect. Here are a few of our favorites.

Huskie Den

The Huskie Den on the lower level of the Holmes Student Center provides a place to play for all ages. Play billiards, go bowling or compete on arcade games and pinball machines.

Summer Camps

A week on a college campus can be a lifechanging opportunity for a young person. Check out our summer camp website to find STEAM camps (science, technology, engineering, art and math), Summer in the Arts Camps in theatre, jazz, percussion and visual arts, and Athletics Camps for a wide range of sports and skill levels.

NIU Community School of the Arts

Art classes, group music classes, individual music lessons and ensembles – the NIU Community School of the Arts connects the community to the resources of the world-class NIU College of Visual and Performing Arts, making high-quality arts education accessible to all.

High school music clinics are also available – educational, non-competitive events that offer directors and students the chance to connect with other musicians, perform on NIU’s stages, and get feedback from NIU faculty and guest musicians.

Outdoor Adventures

For over 35 years, NIU Outdoor Adventures has provided outdoor recreation experiences for students, staff and community members. Adventure trips, boat and gear rental, and team building activities provide meaningful and fun experiences.

NIU Esports

Mainly focused on NIU student tournaments, the NIU Esports program hosts online and in-person community competitions throughout the year. Check out the NIU Esports website for more information and a calendar of events.
