The operating staff are committed to performing their duties in a professional and conscientious manner in the furtherance of the mission of Northern Illinois University. Each operating staff member has specific and often unique roles and responsibilities which makes each member an integral part of the university. The operating staff are dedicated to supporting and assisting all NIU personnel, students and the community at large as it relates to the university.
The operating staff provide the highest quality standard of excellence and service to the NIU community and the community at large in accordance with the following guidelines:
- The operating staff will maintain the highest standard of professionalism in the performance of their duties, and shall help create and provide an environment that embraces equity and diversity. The operating staff shall be civil and respectful in their communications and interactions with all NIU personnel, students and the community at large.
- The operating staff shall be reliable, honest and ethical in the performance of their designated roles and responsibilities. The operating staff shall abide by all statutes and rules as established by the State University Civil Service System (SUCSS), and by those policies and procedures established by the NIU Board of Trustees and the NIU constitution.
- The operating staff must take appropriate steps to safeguard and maintain the integrity and confidentiality of all business-sensitive and student information as mandated by federal, state and professional statutes.
