The operating staff are committed to performing their duties in a professional and conscientious manner in support of the mission of Northern Illinois University. As an integral part of the university, the operating staff are dedicated to supporting and assisting the NIU community and advocating for civil service employees through their unique roles and responsibilities.
The operating staff provide the highest quality of service to the NIU community in accordance with the following guidelines:
The operating staff will maintain professionalism and integrity in the performance of their duties and be mindful in their communications.
The operating staff will help create and provide an environment that embraces diversity, equity and inclusion.
The operating staff must abide by all statutes and rules as established by the State University Civil Service System (SUCSS), and by those policies and procedures established by the NIU Board of Trustees and the NIU constitution.
The operating staff must take appropriate steps to safeguard and maintain the integrity and confidentiality of all business-sensitive, personnel and student information as mandated by federal, state, local and professional statutes.
