OneCard On-Campus Uses
The OneCard ID is an important all-in-one access card.
NIU students can attend athletic events at the Convocation Center using their OneCard ID. Access for fee-paying students that are taking classes at the DeKalb NIU Campus is established automatically prior to the date of the event. For certain events, students will need to contact the NIU Convocation Center at 815-752-6800 to pick up their tickets.
NIU students who receive financial aid have a convenient method of buying books and school supplies at the beginning of each semester. Students can use their OneCard ID at either the Huskie Books & Gear (815-753-1081) or Village Commons Bookstore (815-758-0613) to charge the cost of their books and school supplies to their bursar account. This puts the cost on the bill with tuition and housing that is sent home each semester. Please note that only students who are receiving financial aid can utilize this feature.
|Semester||Eligible Per-Semester Maximums||Book Charge

|Fall 2019||up to $700||August 12, 2019||September 6, 2019|

NIU Students can ride the Huskie Line to get around campus and the DeKalb/Sycamore area using their NIU OneCard ID. For bus schedule information contact the Huskie Line at 815-758-6900.
Student OneCard IDs are used for printing in the NIU computer labs and in classes on the DeKalb campus. When a student prints a document, it is sent to a print queue and waits for the student to swipe his/her OneCard ID to deduct the cost. This allows students to print from remote locations and be sure that the print job will be at the lab when he/she arrives to pick it up. A Huskie Bucks account is required for printing.
Building doors around campus remain locked at certain times for security purposes. After the doors lock, they can only be opened using a valid OneCard ID assigned with proper security door access. All residence halls deploy these door readers on exterior doors, while some halls use door readers for rooms, room-clusters and elevators.
Access your meal plan by swiping your OneCard ID at checkout. Meal plans are available for food purchases in designated residential dining locations on campus. Students living in the residence halls are required to select a Meal Plan, while commuting students or faculty/staff are able to purchase plans through Housing & Residential Services. Check out all of the meal plan options or meal plan locations.
NIU students use their OneCard ID to vote in student elections. These elections are usually for electing board members of the Student Association. All students are eligible to vote in elections. For more information, contact the Student Association at 815-753-0483.
Students can use their NIU OneCard IDs to check out books at the NIU Founders Memorial Library. In addition, students have access to 71 Illinois libraries belonging to CARLI (The Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries of Illinois). For more information contact University Libraries at 815-753-1995.
