Law Library Faculty Promotion and Tenure Packet Template

College of Law library faculty applying for promotion and/or tenure will use an online packet template in their case that includes the following form and file upload fields along with these provided instruction prompts.


Application for Promotion and/or Tenure

Your application is submitted in an online form at the beginning of your packet as further described.

Application Form required

To submit your application, draft the following information and then copy/paste into the provided form in this section of your packet:

  • Applicant Name
  • Application Type (Promotion and Tenure / Promotion Only / Tenure Only)
  • Current Rank
  • Department/School/Division
  • Educational Background (Include name of institution and location, dates attended, and degree earned)
  • Professional Experience (List institutions, rank or title, and dates of appointment concerning all professional positions in chronological order showing the most recent first. Include name of institution, rank/title, and appointment dates)
  • Effective Date of Promotion/Tenure (Date Promotion / Tenure will become effective, if approved)
  • NIU Employment Start Date
  • Number of Years in Present Rank at NIU (Number of years must include the current academic year when the promotion and/or tenure application is reviewed at the university level)
  • Number of years of service at NIU (Number of years must include the current academic year when the promotion and/or tenure application is reviewed at the university level)
  • Number of years of full-time college-level teaching prior to NIU (Number of years of full-time college-level teaching in the rank of Assistant / Associate / Professor prior to joining NIU)
  • Memorandum of Understanding (State whether this position is covered by an MOU that modifies promotion / tenure criteria or procedures)
  • This is an early application (Yes / No)
  • This is a short-track application (Yes / No)
