Northern Illinois University uses Interfolio Review, Promotion and Tenure (RPT) to support faculty workflows for key academic review processes including promotion and tenure. Interfolio provides a secure, central platform for submitting materials, managing committee reviews and tracking progress through each stage of review—all aligned with NIU policy and timelines.
If you intend to seek promotion and/or tenure in the 2026-2027 cycle, please complete and submit this form to notify the Office of the Provost. Completing this form is not a substitute for your unit-level processes, and your submission neither prohibits nor precludes your 2026-2027 application. If you are uncertain about applying for promotion and tenure in 2026-2027, go ahead and submit this form. Thank you!
It's important to note that no requirements are changing for promotion and tenure consideration at NIU with the implementation of the Interfolio system. You should submit the materials already required in your department’s bylaws and follow the usual submission timeline established by your department.
2026–2027 Faculty Candidate Training Now Open
Faculty intending to apply for promotion and/or tenure during the 2026–2027 cycle are encouraged to attend an upcoming training session on using Interfolio Review, Promotion, and Tenure (RPT).
These sessions introduce the system, templates and the process for faculty candidates to prepare and submit their promotion and/or tenure packet electronically via Interfolio.
