Looking for something different to do?

Come bowling at the Huskie Den! With 16 lanes, music and TVs for entertainment, billiards and a nearby bar and grill, it's the perfect place to hang out with friends or have your next group event. You can even join our league or participate in a tournament.

  • $3 - NIU students – students must have their OneCard present to receive student pricing
    • NIU students may bring one guest and receive the NIU student price
  • $3.50 – non-NIU college students - students must present a valid student ID to receive student pricing
  • $4 – NIU faculty and staff – employees must present their OneCard
  • $4.50 – NIU alums and community members
  • $2 – children 7 to 14 years old
  • $1 – children 6 years old and under

Time Cost Per Lane

  • $12 an hour per lane for up to six people a lane, not including the cost of shoes
  • $3 for each extra 15 minute increments

Additional Services

Shoe Rental

  • $2.50 - everyone except children 6 years old and under.
  • Free - children 6 years old and under.

Locker Rental

  • $7 for an entire semester or summer session.
  • $12 for an entire year
  • Students enrolled in KNPE courses receive a half price lockers for that semester.
  • Leagues receive one free locker while the league is in session.

Pool

  • Free for everyone all day

Throwback Tuesdays

  • $1 games and shoe rentals every Tuesday for everyone except children 6 years old and under.

Half Price Thursdays

This does not include the cost of lockers, leagues or frequent bowling cards.

  • $1.50 per game for college students with ID
  • $2 per game for NIU employees, community members and guests
  • $1 for children 7 to 14 years old
  • $.50 for children 6 years old and under

Shoe Rental Prices

  • $1 for anyone 14 years and older 
  • $.50 for children 7 to 14 years old
  • Free for children 6 years old and under

Friday Glow Bowl

  • Every Friday of the month
  • Black lights and colored pins start at 7 p.m.
  • Bowlers have a chance to win free games
  • $.50 games and $1 shoe rentals the last Friday of the month and the Friday of finals week.

Frequent Bowler Card

  • $15 per month provides $.75 games (off peak times)
  • Free shoe rental
  • Non-transferable

K-12 Bowling Practice Rates

  • $1 per game for any K-12 student
  • Student must be in youth leagues, on their school bowling team and/or trying out for their school's bowling time to qualify. 
  • Proof of league/team membership is required
  • The Huskie Den reserves the right to refuse service based on the behavior of student(s)

If you're a current undergraduate or graduate student, consider joining our bowling league. You'll enjoy three free games once a week and a free locker rental for the semester.

Format and Guidelines

Leagues are open to all students. A meeting will be held at the start of each semester to establish teams, confirm handicap percentage and when the league will meet (day of week and time).

Summer Fun League

  • Thursday evenings, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
  • Open to NIU students, employees and significant others
  • Eight pin "no-tap" format - a score of eight, nine or ten on the first ball equals a strike.
  • Black lights will be on

Huskie League

For all NIU students.

  • Wednesday evenings, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
    • Members are encouraged to arrive around 5:30 p.m. to be ready to start at 6 p.m.
  • Mixed league - team size is voted on at the start of the semester
  • Handicapped (75% of 210)
  • Each bowler is required to pay $6 for the games they bowl each week
  • A cross-league challenge pizza night at the end of the semester

Diesel League 

Currently on hiatus.

Named after NIU's first Huskie mascot, the Diesel league is open to NIU staff, faculty and their significant others.

  • Thursday evenings, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
  • Mixed league - team size is voted on at the start of the semester
  • Handicapped to level the playing field (90% of 210 with a maximum of 100 pins per game)
  • Each bowler is required to pay $8 for the games they bowl each week
  • A cross-league challenge pizza night at the end of the semester

Tournaments are open to students, faculty and staff. Register for any or all the tournaments. A minimum of six bowlers are needed to run each tournament. Where there are enough entries (four bowlers minimum), there will be divisions based on gender. There will be prizes for each tournament and for the overall series high in each division.

Huskie Shuffle

  • Competitive format
  • Open to NIU students and NIU employees
  • Bowlers need to arrive and register an hour before the tournament starts
  • Handicap is 90% of 200 limited to 50 pins game
  • If possible, bowlers will move lanes each game except for doubles segment
  • All tournaments will be bowled on Fridays at 3:00 p.m.
  • Entries to be paid in cash

Lebowski Games

  • Fun, non-sanctioned formats- no tap, low ball, score your game
  • Open to NIU students and NIU employees
  • Bowlers need to arrive and register 30 minutes before the tournament starts.
  • All tournaments will be on Monday evenings; bowling starting at 6:00 p.m.
