Retaliation Complaint

NIU does not condone or tolerate acts of retaliation against any individual who has a reasonable good faith belief that an unlawful employment/academic practice or a violation of this policy has occurred. Under federal and state law, it is unlawful for an employer to retaliate or discriminate against a person because they have opposed that which they reasonably and in good faith believes to be unlawful discrimination, sexual harassment in employment or sexual harassment in higher education, discrimination based on citizenship status in employment, or because he or she has made a charge, filed a complaint, testified, assisted, or participated in an investigation, proceeding or hearing concerning an unlawful employment practice.

Any employee/student who wishes to file a complaint of retaliation must complete the complaint form below. The Ethics and Compliance Office will determine if an investigation is warranted. Any subsequent investigation in this regard will be conducted independently from any previously filed complaint or investigation results.

For more information on the retaliation complaint process consult the Non-Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation Policy.
