Discrimination/Affirmative Action Complaint

An NIU employee and/or student who has witnessed and/or experienced what he or she believes is conduct that violates the NIU's Non-Discrimination/Harassment policy should initially attempt to resolve the issue directly with the alleged offender or seek assistance from a supervisor. If this is not possible, the employee/student has the right and/or responsibility to file an affirmative action complaint.

After submission of the Affirmative Action complaint form, an affirmative action representative will contact you for an appointment to discuss the nature of the complaint. The initial appointment is referred to as the intake interview. During this interview, the employee/student should be prepared to discuss all factual circumstances and information upon which the complaint is based and will be required to complete an Affirmative Action Complaint Form.
