NIU’s main campus is located in DeKalb, Illinois, about an hour west of Chicago.

Interactive Map Features

In addition to buildings and facilities, our virtual map can be customized to display the locations of a range of campus features and resources, including:

  • Accessibility map: accessible entrances and wayfinding, elevators and automatic door openers
  • Construction map: current construction and repair projects around campus
  • Sustainability map: campus gardens, electric vehicle charging and other environmentally conscious features

Parking

Parking Services oversees parking on campus. In general, anyone who parks on campus must have a parking permit or pay for timed parking. Learn about visitor parking.

Huskie Bus Line

Operated by the city of DeKalb, the Huskie Bus Line offers routes throughout campus and the community and is free for NIU students and employees with a OneCard. The Elburn Shuttle (Route 12) connects riders to the Metra station in Elburn for travel to Chicago, and the Huskie Safe Line (Route 11) provides late-night service for students seven days a week. Greyhound Bus Service

Greyhound provides regional and long-distance bus service with a stop on the NIU campus. The pickup and drop-off location is on Normal Road near Davis Hall, at 202 Normal Road, DeKalb, IL 60115. For schedules, fares and tickets, visit Greyhound.com.
