Conflicts of Interest in Research for Public Health Services and Department of Energy Awardees

Policies Pertaining to Graduate Assistantships

Summary:

The revised policy encompasses all aspects related to GA positions including clarity on the types of appointments. Prior to this, there were multiple policies. The note at the top of the document shows which policies are addressed in this revised policy. 

The language in the revised policy reflects the BOT's policy that there needs to be an applied learning experience with all Graduate Assistant positions.  Added provision for Graduate Assistants to work more than 20 hours with approval in some situations. Removed proration of waivers from previous policy draft. Revised language for greater clarity.


State of Illinois Paid Leave Benefit

Summary:

In accordance with Illinois Public Act 102-1143, known as the Paid Leave for All Workers Act, the university has established the State of Illinois Paid Leave Benefit program that provides eligible employees with up to 40 hours of paid leave from work each year to maintain their health and well-being, care for their families, or use for any other reason of their choosing. Please note, this policy is subject to revision as the proposed rules for this law have not yet been finalized.  The Illinois Department of Labor has communicated that the rules are expected to be adopted in the next month.  Any updates will be communicated to the campus community.  Additionally, more information on this new benefit can be found on the Human Resource Services website.
