We are accepting applications for the graduate quartet position. Preformed quartets and individuals may apply. This is a competitive audition, and the individual members are admitted to the Master of Music or Performer's Certificate by the School of Music.
Each member is awarded a full tuition waiver for the period of the residency (up to two years) as well as a stipend of +$8000/yr each. The quartet will receive a minimum of two weekly intensive coachings with the Avalon Quartet. They will also part of the respective studios for their instrument, and share section leadership responsibility for the NIU Philharmonic.
The graduate quartet will have numerous opportunities for performance on- and off-campus, including up to one full quartet program per semester and numerous run-out concerts at homes, organizations and series between Chicago and the far west suburbs.
