    First National Pan-Hellenic Council chapter founded (Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.)

  • Late 1960s-early 1970s

    Majority of chapter houses built

  • 1990s

    United Greek Council (now known as the Multicultural Greek Council) chapters begin to join NIU Greek life.
  • 2018

    Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life established
  • 2021

    Greek Life Revitalization Task Force formed
  • April 2022

    United Greek Council renamed Multicultural Greek Council

    National Pan-Hellenic Council Yard rededicated
