Research Interests

  • Nanofluids for Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer Applications. Prof. Shelton uses computational and experimental methodologies to determine how nanoparticles enhance desirable characteristics of molten salts used for thermal energy storage for concentrated solar power plants.
  • Nanofluids for Tribological Applications. Prof. Shelton is developing and analyzing nanoparticles that encapsulate phase change materials for improved tribological and heat transfer characteristics of the base lubricant.
