How to Schedule via Navigate

You can schedule an appointment with a career advisor in NIU's Navigate system. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact us at careerservices@niu.edu.

Log In and Choose Appointment Type

  1. Go to NIU's Navigate system and log in with your Z-ID and MyNIU password.
  2. Click "Appointment."
  3. On the appointment page, start with “What type of appointment would you like to schedule?” and click “Student Services.”
  4. In the Service drop-down menu, select the kind of appointment you want.

Choose Date, Advisor and Format

  1. Under "Pick a Date," click on your preferred date then click "Find Available Time."
  2. The New Appointment page will appear with a list of available dates and times." Choose the time that works best for you.
  3. On the "Review Appointment Details and Confirm" page, you may have the option to meet in person or virtually. If you are given your choice, choose one of those options.

Review and Confirm

  1. Make sure to scroll down to "Would you like to share anything else?" and add a comment describing the reason for your appointment to help us prepare.
  2. After you've confirmed your appointment, you'll receive an appointment from Navigate for your Outlook calendar.

Attend Appointment

If your appointment is in person, please arrive at Campus Life Building Room 220 about five minutes before it starts.

If you have a virtual appointment, your career advisor will send you a meeting request in Microsoft Teams before the appointment is scheduled to start.
