Donate to the NIU Annuitant Scholarship Fund

The NIU Annuitants Association Scholarship Fund was established and funded as an endowment with the NIU Foundation on April 1, 2019. The purpose of the fund is to provide members of the Association with the opportunity to show continued support for Northern Illinois University by assisting it to attract or retain students through the award of scholarships. The fund is administered by the foundation under the terms of an agreement with the association.

Eligibility

Eligible students must meet the following criteria:

  • Have least a 3.0 GPA.
  • Successfully completed one year of study at a post-secondary institution.
  • Must be a full-time NIU undergraduate, graduate or law student.
  • The scholarship is awarded for one academic year on the basis of merit.
  • The scholarship may not be awarded to the same student more than once.

Selection Process

Scholarship recipients are selected by the respective dean (if appropriate, a committee approved by the dean) from one of the university's seven colleges on a rotating basis in the following order: Business, Education, Engineering and Engineering Technology, Health and Human Sciences, Law, Liberal Arts and Sciences and Visual and Performing Arts.

The director of the university's Financial Aid and Scholarship Office oversees the annual rotation process.

  • Parker Smith, College of Engineering and Engineering Technology, 2021-2022
  • Alexandria Coffie, College of Health and Human Sciences, 2022-23
  • Clara Raab, College of Health and Human Sciences, 2022-23
  • Evan Pinsel, College of Law, 2023-24

How to Donate

New donations will be added to the endowment providing the opportunity to increase the amount and number of the scholarships to be awarded in future years. One-time donations to the fund can be made using the Gift Form. If you need assistance making a donation, please contact the NIU Foundation at 815-753-1626.
