PAWS Mentoring connects you with peer mentors who provide assistance, wisdom and support as you transition to college and navigate your NIU experience.
Peer mentors can help you build self-advocacy skills, communicate with professors, understand campus resources, and develop a stronger sense of community and belonging.
PAWS Mentoring is designed to support you in a welcoming, student-centered environment. Through mentoring, you will be able to build confidence, ask questions and connect with peers who understand the college experience.
As part of PAWS Mentoring, you will:
- Get paired with a mentor who will provide the best, tailored experience for your situation.
- Engage in helpful conversations that are not necessarily academic-based.
- Receive support as you adjust to college life.
- Build meaningful connections with a fellow student who understands the college experience.
