Printmaking

Our robust printmaking program will prepare you to pursue a career as a visual artist or in a related field. At NIU, you will learn printmaking in the following formats:

  • Intaglio and relief
  • Lithography
  • Serigraphy

Studying printmaking prepares you to pursue individual creativity and technical competency in print-related media as it is practiced and utilized in a contemporary art context, encouraging interdisciplinary exploration. You will learn specific techniques working with stone, aluminum, photographic plates and stenciling. A graduate program is also available for you to further your printmaking study.
