NIU College of Law Student Ambassadors
NIU Law Student Ambassadors are a select group of 1L and 2L students who represent the College of Law. These students actively engage and interact with alumni, prospective, and current students by sharing their perspectives and experiences. Our ambassadors are appointed for a year and are a great resource for anything NIU Law and embody the true Huskie spirit.

What have you enjoyed most about NIU Law?
The amazing diversity throughout the school and the closeness among classmates. Everyone has been nothing short of inviting and supportive of one another.

Which law professor has made the biggest impact on you and why?
Dean Maddali has made a large impact on my law school experience. She always has her door open for students and not only supports me but is someone I can trust with law school and non-law school-related matters.

What is your favorite law class you've taken thus far and why?
Lawyering Skills because every day was unique and exciting. You never knew if you were going to have to give an impromptu presentation or go through tons of case files.

What advice would you give an incoming 1L?
Although schoolwork may seem overwhelming, don’t forget to still do stuff that you love. Maintaining a healthy work-life balance is the key to preventing burnout.

How has NIU prepared you to be an effective attorney upon graduation?
The amount of real-world experience available to us during our education is second to none. The professors are here to ensure we are capable and consistent attorneys upon graduation.

What type of law are you interested in?
My primary interests are in immigration and family law. I will be interning at a law firm in New Mexico that does general practice, which will help make me a well-rounded candidate.

Professor Taylor because he ensures everyone understands the class material.

Why did you choose NIU Law?
I chose NIU Law because of the small class sizes and affordability. A learning environment where each student can build connections with not only their peers but also their educators and administration is incredibly valuable.

What have you enjoyed most about NIU Law?
The people and the academic rigor of the courses. Once the pieces start to come together for a class, you begin to realize how much you have learned, and it's quite amazing!

Why did you choose NIU Law?
I chose NIU Law because of the opportunity to enjoy a holistic law school experience. Based on the leadership, the cost of attendance, and the location, I thought this is the place where 20 years from now I will look back and be proud to be an alumnus.

What type of law are you interested in?
I am interested in business law; therefore, I am very excited about NIU Law's new Business Law Innovation Clinic.

What is your favorite memory so far from law school?
My favorite memory so far from law school is attending Casino Night and the Homecoming tailgate with my friends. It was a great way to meet new people and build community.
