Kellie Martial was named Assistant Dean and Director of Admissions in December 2020. She had been the Acting Director of Admissions since February 2020 after having served as the Associate Director since 2017. Prior to her role in the admissions office, she worked as a Compliance Analyst for the National Futures Association which regulates futures trading on U.S. exchanges.

She graduated from the Northern Illinois University College of Law in 2010, and currently serves on the College of Law’s Alumni Council. During her time at the College of Law, Kellie participated in the Zeke Giorgi Criminal Defense Clinic, the Appellate Defender Clinic, and the Trial Advocacy Team competition. After obtaining her 711 License, she clerked in the misdemeanor jury trial room for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office in downtown Chicago, IL. In 2010, Kellie was awarded the Marla Dickerson Spirit Award by the NIU Law Black Law Students Association for her compassion for other members and her efforts in promoting unity within BLSA. In 2018, BLSA awarded Kellie with a Certificate of Appreciation for her service with the organization.

As Assistant Dean, Kellie works closely with the dean and is responsible for a broad range of administrative and academic functions, including the strategic development and implementation of admission policies, programming, and procedures. This also includes enrollment management, implementing and executing student recruitment programs, as well as creating and executing pipeline programming to further build the College of Law’s goal of a diverse and talented student body.
