Jeanna L. Hunter serves as the Northern Illinois University College of Law Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Interim Director of Academic and Bar Success. After graduating from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale with both her Bachelor of Science and Juris Doctorate, Dean Hunter was a judicial clerk for the Illinois Appellate Court in the fifth and second district. The longest serving female faculty member at NIU Law, Dean Hunter has taught legal writing and advocacy, Legal Methods, Advanced Legal Analysis: Skills and Strategies, and Bar Fundamentals. She’s served as a coach for NIU’s ALA Moot Court Team and assisted as a brief grader and judge for the annual Mandell Moot Court Competition. She also coordinates the first-year and second-year Academic Success Programs. More recently she has assisted students at all stages of their academic experience as Associate Dean of Student Affairs. Since starting at NIU Law in 1993, Dean Hunter has spearheaded student-focused programs such as Jump Start and the summer Bar Prep course.
